A little girl named Tilda, exists in a hot and desolate world controlled and governed by superstition and fear. She lives on a struggling tomato farm with her mother and sister, who are made outcasts due to their progressive views and fertile soils .
Tilda’s only form of escape is an unbreakable bond she’s made with a little magpie. Despite countless warning of the bird’s inherent bad omen, Tilda cannot bring herself to severe the friendship which brings about the death and destruction of her family and her farm.
